It’s Chinese New Year, so what?

You tell me.

Why should I be happy when there’s an evil company still out there trying to con money out of people.

Why should I feel joy when I’m being bullied incessantly by a bully who’s very good at bullying.

Why should I not feel the blues when fans are still attacking fans for “not doing the right thing”.

Why should I go celebrate a joyous harvest festival when the rest of the year will turn out to be depressing.

Why should I fake a smile when Japan wants to scam us all of our money and make us feel good about it.

Why should I pretend to actually enjoy this festival when there’s so much drama and evil in this world.

You tell me why I should feel happy in a reality that isa depressing on a level that we all have never seen.

Because we need moments to be happy and celebrate. If we were always stuck with reality and the bad parts about the world, we’d all be gloomy, unhappy people that would never get a chance to enjoy ourselves with anything.

That does not explain why you people insist on setting aside certain dates for silly holidays. Why do you need “moments” to be happy? Why can’t you just enjoy yourself on a “normal” day?

And… I know we’re not really thinking on the same lines, but you made my day Drm. In general, I agree. It’s Chinese New Year, so what? Why do I need to give a damn?

I don’t really celebrate it, so I’m not necessarily backing it, but it’s just a set day to celebrate it. Or just simply enjoy it. People might just appreciate holidays because they provide a break from school or work. These times also allow families and friends to get together because without holidays, everyone’s schedules may not match. Holidays help in organizing such gatherings.

Also depending on what the holiday is, there are different reasons for each holiday, secular or religious or whatever the case may be. You don’t have to give a damn about Chinese New Year’s. Just take the day off and enjoy it like you would enjoy any other day then. Just don’t bring down (not saying you are) other people’s holiday moods or cheer.

You can choose to get all depressed over situations you have no control over or act on aspects of your life you do have control over and make yourself happier. Sometimes you don’t even have to do much besides changing your mental state and the way you see things.

Why should you choose to see the glass as half empty when it’s still half full. This time as sucky as it is, is hardly great depression or WWII yet.

Why do people setting certain dates for silly holidays? Just a matter of convenience really.

…channeling Niel Armstrong here (or one of these astronaut Armstrongs)…

“Birth is paiful and death is mean. So get some loving in between.”

Focusing on the bad parts of life will drive a person to death sooner.

But I agree with Drm. If you’re going to celebrate a holiday; celebrate one that doesn’t make you look like an idiot.

Cherish a day created by someone who woke up that day and decided to (try to) fight against the machine. Please.
