Women on Japanese animation, or HINANO IS NOT GETTING IN ON THE ACTION

…Yeah, I know it was mean, but I don’t write too often. Also the first thing that popped into my head. Honest.

Haven’t read the whole thing (and will not do so due to time constraints), but from the general impression, the women are taking a mature view on the situation without resorting to ELITISM and BIGOTRY.

Still, without explaining in detail why fansubs are here to stay, here are the following points to chew on:

1.  Animé is a loss-making business with relatively few cash cows to milk and enough monetary black holes to deter profit-making entities to make a proft (unless your name is Bandai-Namco Pte. Ltd.).

2.  Animé is an extremely niche, extremely specialized market that no one really gets. Paul Krugman would throw up and get BRAIN ANEURYSMS just trying to analyze it.

3.  We still have yet to work out all the kinks in Copyright Law (nor have I found any Bibilical justification for or against it. Yet. The right to copy is like physical property, and in some senses, is, but what about TV shows?).

4.  Unless you like to enforce the law using hard force and the military, there is no proper way to enforce said copyrights.

5.  Humans are selfish creatures. Hence the need for brute force.

That should be enough to tide you over.
