You all sit up there in your comfy cubicles and offices, ignoring the people who keep you on life support. You think marketing them what you get will keep your budget in the black and your investors happy.

Reality check: Your customers are not amused.

While I appreciate the CEO of ADV remembering his roots, the same CANNOT be said for the rest of you. All you do is make your PR dude blather on endlessly about how fansubs are destroying the industry and related propaganda. Heck, we have the idiots down at ANN going about the same manner, going so far as to use yellow journalism to drive home YOUR propaganda.

Seriously, the joke’s gone too far. Has the money made you too comfortable? It probably has.

Stop bitching about the industry and look at yourselves for a change. There’s a very good reason why GONZO was forced to do what they had to do.

You were once like your customers. And some of us really do care. Don’t ever forget that.

If not, look forward to marketing stuff like Kanokon. It’s all you’ll be failing to sell.

Oh wait. You asked for deep, satisfying storylines that move people to shed manly tears, epic battles and quality animation. Something along the lines of Gurren Lagann and Kaiji and True Tears. Not inane fanservicey borderline moé porn.

Oh that’s right. You think all animé companies are dirty scoundrels that deserve to burn in the fiery pits of Hell for “overcharging“ and being “downright jerks” and “not caring for the customers”.

Well I’ll give you that for Odex and Bandai, but the way I see it, the majority of the companies are doing their best within their moral means to meet to your irresponsible and downright unattainable standards.

I’m pretty sure the studios feel the same way too. After all they are people too. No one likes being unappreciated. Especially if it happens to deprive them of the basics. And when people feel unappreciated, they stop caring about what they do and produce crap.  I’m not surprised at all.

So suck it up and enjoy your fanservicey borderline moé porn. After all, this is what you (and your wallets) asked for. It’s all you’ll be getting.
