The threshold for pure awesome has just been breached. Infinity times.

If you’re wondering why I don’t have a Singles Awareness Day post, it’s because I am a) a cheapskate, b) all too keenly aware what is wrong with my social life, and c) am aware of it everyday.

But moving on… … …

Overman King Gainer is the epitome of pure awesome. It even surpasses ANY KyoAni work by a factor of pure awesome to the power of infinity. Past, present and FUTURE works included.

Included here are the reasons why Overman King Gainer is pure awesome:

• The OP. It is the single most awesome OP ever crafted. I don’t care what bullcrap you throw at me, nothing can compare with the sher awesomeness of this OP. It has to be seen to be believed.
• Yoshiyuki Tomino was the director. I know it doesn’t mean the whole world, but it’s not the Tomino we know and love. Yes people, this is not OMFG-I-am-so-emo-everyone-must-die Tomino, but Happy Happy Crack Acid Trip Tomino. So no angsty pilots and shit. If he was responsible for that awesome OP, by Jove he’s a genius!
• One of the characters is a badass sniper. As seen in most Tomino series (Gundam, more Gundam, 08th MS Team, even more Gundam), especially in 08th MS Team, snipers are uber hax. They take down any unit, be it grunt unit, boss unit, or secret boss unit or even the main character’s unit with max plot armor (though it does not stop the mian character’s unit from doing something). And since one of the characters is a badass sniper, he gets the uber hax, plus plot armor, increasing his haxness by a hundredfold.
• Some of the craziest mecha designs this side of Asia. Yes, a mecha with hair. You heard that right. Mecha with hair.
• THE AWESOME FIELD. Yeah, I know it’s called something else in the show, but THE AWESOME FIELD sounds a lot better.

Oh, and the usual drivel of great story, believeable characters, fluid and consistent animation and the like.

But who cares about the usual drivel. Or the fact that I am 3 to 5 years overdue. This is a definite must watch, damn the weirdness.
