It’s a little something I like to call “Journalistic Freedom”.
This is a very sad day for the freedom of the press. Or rather, for the freedom of the animeblog. Mine, specifically.
I have received death threats not just through comments, but also in real life. By my peers. Who are hell-bent on forcing their likes and desires onto supposed unbelievers and ‘heretics’. Which is not much different on how some governments use political, military, paramilitary, and even legal sanctions against freedom of the press. (I’ve also been censored by the government, but I don’t really care too much about that. In fact, I’m surprised I’ve been warranted such attention by the government.)
Now, while we all know Singapore is one of the worst places (compared to First World Countries of its kind) to read about opinionated stuff (which I’m not going to talk about because it is a huge and messy topic and is not anime-related), you still find pockets of free speech. No one can actually censor the Internet completely (China tries, though, but it will ultimately fail) and mine is no exception.
However, in recent times, some close-minded individuals (who shall remain unnamed even though I would love to slander their reps on the Internet) have hurled death threats over a typo, and called me a ‘heretic’, for not bowing down to their supposed ‘Goddess’, Suzumiya Haruhi. They have even gone so far as to accuse me of threatening to kill them, when they have hurled death threats at me. An eye for an eye may make the world go blind, but I won’t give a fuckpenny over what I feel is my right to freely write what I like being violated by lifeforms who quickly resort to baseless threats and namecalling.
I may not be an actual journalist, writing a blog and all, but don’t I do the same functions as a journalist, though it’s mostly opinionated and ultimately biased? Am I not sharing information with the world as a whole? Should I not receive the same rights a journalist has? Hell, I may not be putting my life on the line to get the news to the people, but I’m still sharing my views on anime and the like to people, am I not?
If so, then why am I being targeted by faggots like them, whose goal is nothing but the brainwashing and ultimate subjugation of the human mind to nothing but an anime character who shows NO INHERENT SUPERNATURAL ABILITIES WHATSOEVER? Hell, if I had to pick someone to worship, I’d be worshipping Belldandy, Yurie, or even Kyon. They have, at the very least, shown some sort of supernatural abilities and have done miracles, although animated and have no basis in real life. And why am I being singled out for expressing my opinion, which does not meet with their ideal? Are they, like Kim Jong-Il, trying to shut me down for not being like them? If that is the case, then I have no chioce but to suit up for war. A war, not of words, but one that might end up with my actual demise at their hands. I do not shirk at the face of death, indeed, a warrior’s death is most fitting for people who have stood up for what they believe in.
Fellow anibloggers, we might be living in a time of oppression. I know I am. Will you take the banner of the free press, and fight on, knowing such evil and cold-hearted fanatics are at your doorstep, waiting to pounce on every single mistake you make? I don’t know the situation in America, but here, my right to journalistic freedom has been violated by these ignorant, close-minded, shallow, stupid, and complete-self-absorbed motherfuckers who deserve nothing but the full wrath of the free world.
In summary, for those of you who want me to correct that small typo a few posts back and to bow to Haruhi,

Fuck you and the horse you rode in. (Image courtesy of http://www.cronos.ne.jp/~sumitan/)
PS: I know I have no right to free speech, living in Singapore and all, but it’s the bloody Internet. While I do try to not anger most of the people by excercizing a little self-restraint, it’s very hard to cater to everyone, and I might tread on a few toes. For those of you open-minded folks who realize this but are still angered, I apologize.
PPS: As for Suzumiya Haruhi, she is NOT some heaven-sent Goddess. She is nothing but a snarky, conniving BITCH who stops at NOTHING to acheive her goals. Be it kidnapping, sexual harrassment, blackmail, vandalization, theft or even disturbing the peace, as long as it works for her, it’ll do. The only miracle I can see is how the fucking blazes did she not get unceremoniously kicked out of school for such crimes that would send an older man to jail. I do not see the need to bow to her like some leaden idol. I do not acknowledge her as the one True God. I do not see the need to even acknowledge her godhood because she has no claims to be a goddess. I do not even see the reason why would you immerse yourself in this stupid fantasy which there is no fucking escape from. I know I will take flak for this. In fact, I wholeheartedly welcome all comers. AKA Bring it on, bitches. Do your worst.
PPPS: And for those of you keeping score at home, yes, this is an angry post.

What I *really* think about Eva.
Here’s my two cents.
- Ooh, Hawt women.
- Mecha looks nice.
- Waitaminute, there’s a story?
- Shinji looks like a fuckin’ retard.
- Gendo(u) Ikari is the big pimpdaddy of Eva. No shit. He’s cooler than all of you combined. Even if he is a circlejerk asshole.
Well, that wraps up the whole Eva debate.
Thank you, and keep your heads up and your eyes open. You never know when dancing EVA units might come and crash into your home or vehicular dog of war.
